Judges & Emcees

Meet Our Judges

Our judges come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We are truly grateful to our judges for sharing their time and expertise!

Roy Dwyer

Roy Dwyer

Dwyer, Williams, Cherkoss Attorneys

Roy began his career in 1949, when he quit high school at 16 years old to enlist in the United States Air Force. While in the military, Roy earned his GED and, after four years of service, found himself stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Eager to further his education, he enrolled at the University of Alaska and later transferred to the University of Oregon, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. Roy immediately enrolled in law school at the University of Oregon and was awarded his Juris Doctorate in 1962.

After graduation, Roy opened his own law firm in Eugene. Since then, Roy has grown his practice and has six offices throughout the state. Roy is senior partner at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss Attorneys which, as nearly everyone knows, specializes in handling personal injury cases. Roy practices from the main office in Bend, OR and has been a member of the Oregon State Bar for 56 years.

When Roy is not in the office, he still seeks adventure. He regularly hikes the Cascades and counts among his more memorable treks The Grand Canyon, the High Sierras, Nepal, The Great Wall of China, Patagonia and Mont Blanc trek. Traveling the world is one of his great joys, but all that is trumped by being among his family including his wife, his 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Roy has contributed his time and talent to Sparrow Clubs’ Swinging with the Stars for the past four years. He was one of the People’s Choice award winners in 2014! He’s been a judge for three years including last year’s event when his partner, Tim Williams, raised over $30,000 for Sparrow Clubs! He is excited to be invited back again for his expertise in dance for the 2018 version of Swinging with the Stars!

Tim Williams

Tim Williams

Dwyer, Williams, Cherkoss Attorneys

Not many lawyers are as successful in court as they have been on the court. But Tim Williams is a rare breed. Before he became this firm’s lead litigator and an Oregon Super Lawyer, Tim sharpened his competitive edge as a forward on Southern Oregon University’s nationally ranked basketball team. He’s been winning ever since, first graduating from SOU with honors, then finishing law school and being nominated to top leadership positions with professional and civic organizations across the state and nation.

The competence and professionalism Tim brings to the courtroom extends to his work with various organizations that have become a priority for this civically active lawyer. Tim has held leadership positions with the Oregon State Bar, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the J.R. Campbell Inns of Court, and the Rotary Club of Bend. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court – a distinction held by few.

Whether he’s working with leaders in the community or clients dealing with injury from a vehicular accident, a work-related incident or who have lost a loved one due to wrongful death, Tim’s track record of bringing home wins speaks for itself. Since 2003, Tim has won millions of dollars for his clients.

And speaking of wins… Tim and his pro dance partner Valerie, were last years “People’s Choice” Mirror Ball Award Winners! Tim now holds the Swinging with the Stars fundraising record for personally raising over $30,400 for Central Oregon Sparrow Clubs!!!

Meet Our Emcees

Our Emcees are vibrant, fun, funny… and have a history of being Sparrow Club supporters. Both have a tremendous amount of experience in public speaking and we are so grateful to have them with us again this year!

Sam Albert

Sam Albert

Combined Communications, DJ at 101.7

Sam is honored to be part of Swinging with the Stars for the seventh year in a row.

Prior to Bend, Sam spent ten years at the Second City in Chicago before moving to L.A. to work (but mostly not work) in film and television.

She can be seen yelling at the hunky Matt Damon in The Informant and getting yelled at by the hunky Jeremy Piven in The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard. Other film and television credits include The Break-up, Parks and Recreation, and The Office.

On an unrelated note, Sam never litters, carries hand sanitizer with her everywhere, and plans to learn to drive stick shift this year.

Sam can be heard mornings on 101.7 – the adult alternative. She applauds all the kids involved with Sparrow Clubs and thanks you for your support of such a special organization.

Jack Shuttleworth

Jack Shuttleworth

Sales Manager, Kendall Toyota of Bend

Jack was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. He moved to Bend four years ago with his wife Nancy, and they had their adorable baby girl three years ago. She is cuter than the Gerber baby, but has a difficult time using progressive pronouns properly.

Jack works for Kendall Toyota of Bend and has done a YouTube segment called ‘Test Drive Tuesday’, where he took a lucky (or not so lucky) local person out for a test drive. It was a whole lot of nonsense and PG-13 fun. Google ‘Test Drive Tuesday’ and he should be on the 16th Google page that shows up.

This is his third year co-hosting ‘Swinging with the Stars’ and he now understands ‘swinging’ means dancing. Glad he finally figured that out. You can find him locally on Monday mornings… taking out the trash and the recycle (every other week). Jack would like to say thank you to Sparrow Clubs for asking him to co-host again and for all they do to help empower kids to help kids!
