STAR: Scot Brees

If you attended Swinging With the Stars over the past few years, chances are good that you’ve already seen Scot Brees on stage… as the camera guy. This year it all changes as he goes in front of the camera for the first time! Be gentle… this is WAY outside of his comfort zone, but he loves the mission of Sparrow Clubs and his counselors told him he needs to do things like this to grow.

First visiting Central Oregon in 1992, he and his girlfriend fell in love with Bend while scouting sites for a new Costco. Apple Computer, eBay, and PayPal kept him in Silicon Valley to help build the internet, and their family made it to Bend for good in 2011.

These days you’ll find Scot connecting with the community wearing any number of hats: Founder and Executive Director of Connect Central Oregon, Principal Consultant of Network::911, General Manager of Savvy Casino Events, and just about anywhere volunteers and social engagement opportunities exist.

When Scot says, “This is not my first rodeo”, he actually means it… now having been involved with directing and supporting over 35 rodeos throughout OR, WA, and CA. And dang, he looks good in a cowboy hat!

Elizabeth was raised in Seattle and has been dancing since middle school: Irish, Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. She first taught dance after graduating high school for her local Irish Dance academy and discovered how much she loves helping people explore self-expression through movement and the community that dancing and good music can create.

She moved to Bend in 2018 and quickly discovered West Coast Swing. The dance and the community were love at first sight. That started the next 4 years of bringing her passion for dance to Central Oregon where she and her husband, James, own and teach at The Space. When not dancing at the studio and throwing local dance events, Elizabeth travels to conventions to compete and train in West Coast Swing. You’ll also find her outdoors with her 3 dogs and working as an Interior Designer.
